Leonard Witkamp, MD
Dr Leonard Witkamp is a dermatologist and director
KSYOS TeleMedical Centre, the first virtual hospital in The Netherlands.
He founded the KSYOS organisation in 2001. KSYOS develops TeleMedicine
services that may add to increase efficiency of the primary healthcare
process. With the use of the Health Management Practice model, KSYOS
investigates the efficiency increasing potential of this TeleMedicine
services in cooperation with future users, thereby creating broad basic
support.
KSYOS subsequently takes care of the implementation and
operation of the TeleMedicine services in regular healthcare. KSYOS works
together with industry and producers, a large network of healthcare workers,
decision makers and heath insurance companies. Leonard Witkamp’s experience
as research fellow in market research, as university researcher and as
practicing dermatologist is an excellent base for helping the KSYOS
organization to reach it’s mission: maintaining accessibility of the
healthcare system for the general population by efficiency increase.
The flagship of KSYOS is TeleDermatology with over 40.000
TeleConsultations performed so far in The Netherlands by 2500 general
practitioners and 200 dermatologists.
